End of June Check-In #WIPMadness

I know it's not quite the end of June, but I'm going to be away from my computer for the end of this week and beginning of next week. We didn't have an official host for this month, but YAY, we do for next month! Be sure to stop by Kim Baccellia's Blog to check in through July.

June has felt like a scattered month for me. I have gotten some stuff done - an online course mapped out and I've been working hard on my screenplay - but I haven't had a regular writing schedule in a while and I think that's what is leaving me feeling disjointed about the process. Now that school is done, I plan to schedule in some writing time and take off to a coffee shop a few days per week through the next couple of months.

How about you? How did June go and do you have any writing plans for the rest of the summer?

  1. Not bad. My goals were to have the YA outllined and ready to draft in June and July, and to have edited my last wip. I'm a bit behind on the edit, but I'll catch up. I'm trying for a draft every two months. I'll overlap plotting and editing of other books. So far I'm not going insane.

    1. A draft every two months is a great goal, Ron. I also often overlap projects, which seems to keep my motivation up.

  2. I'm still plugging along. Our summer routines have already started, with more company, several little outings, and some time at the cabin coming up, so I'm trying to adapt to the interruptions.

The history that I was working on for our church is almost done -- at least, the narrative part -- and I'm trying to decide how I want to set up the handful of permanent copies I'll need (i.e., a Blurb book or just laser printed and bound at Staples). And there's a revised ms that I keep meaning to send out, but have been procrastinating. We'll see what I actually get done as summer progresses. :)

Thanks for keeping us accountable this month. I'll be sure to check in with Kim whenever I'm around in July.

  3. Ah, summer. To steal a line, "Time keeps on slipping, slipping, slipping into ... well, I don't know where. I'm not getting nearly as much done as I hoped. 8-(

    1. Haha! Ain't that the truth, Rosi. How is it the end of June?!

    2. Aw, sorry to hear that, Rosi, but you're not alone. My goals are often a little too ambitious, especially this time of year.

  4. June has been very scattered for me, too, Denise. As it turns out, I no longer have the promotion I was offered because the Director didn't follow protocol. I just got royally shafted, which makes it hard to concentrate on my writing. Unbelievable! I've been screwed when I didn't get it in writing and now I'm being screwed even when I DID get it in writing. I don't know what will happen, but I no longer have any respect for this place.

Sorry to vent. Needless to say, I didn't quite make my goal for this month...not yet anyway. Today, I am blowing off my duties and writing. Thanks for giving us some nudges and cheers, Denise. I'll be sure to check in with Kim next month. One goal is to resurrect my own blog.

    Rock on, Wipsters!

    1. Oh, Mary Ann, that's awful! I hope the writing goes well regardless, and helps you take your mind off all of the job stress.

  6. Thanks for the check-ins, Denise. :D

June felt very scattered for me, too. It always seems to be such a busy month, with far too many extroverted activities on the schedule, lol. I did get a bit of writing done, and some "writing work" -- synopsis for newest ms, sending off a couple submissions, etc. I'm not sure how much I'll get done in July, as we'll be travelling a fair bit. But my goal is to write the first draft of a new project by the end of the summer. It even has an outline! (This is a very foreign concept in my writing process.) ;)

Happy to end the month with some good writing-news. Will share when I can. Wishing you all a great month of WIPping!
