Would You Rather Wednesday

Because of the GREAT response to the contest for the FORGE ARC (thanks to Laurie and all those others who passed the word around), I'm still busy tabulating. I should be back with a winner tomorrow, and then another contest with more AWESOME prizes on Friday!

In the mean time, I'm going to throw three quick Would You Rather questions your way. Some of these are for readers, some are for writers, so feel free to answer one of them or all of them, as they apply to you.

1. If you had to choose, and if both books were good, would you rather read a book full of suspense, or a book full of humor?

2. Would you rather read the paper version, the electronic version, or the audio version of a book, if all three were available to you?

3. Would you rather talk through edits with your agent or editor on the phone or discuss through email?

Have fun, and I'll be back tomorrow with the FORGE winner!

  1. Easy!

    1. If you had to choose, and if both books were good, would you rather read a book full of suspense, or a book full of humor? humor. I love tension but not suspense. (does that make sense?)

    2. Would you rather read the paper version, the electronic version, or the audio version of a book, if all three were available to you?
    PAPER

    3. Would you rather talk through edits with your agent or editor on the phone or discuss through email?
Email. I have a horrid memory and do much better when I can write out my thoughts and ruminate on yours. And I can multitask email, but not while I'm on the phone.

Ooh, this is a hard one. I guess I'd pick humor, because then it'd put me in a good mood ;)

    2. Would you rather read the paper version, the electronic version, or the audio version of a book, if all three were available to you?

Paper, for sure. I don't have a reliable enough computer for e-versions, and audio books don't always "sound" the right way (if it's first person and the person speaking doesn't sound like the character, I can't get into it).

    Fun questions!

  4. Okay, I'm back with my answers:
    1. Suspense (this one seems split down the middle between my two blogs, but I generally prefer a more serious story that keeps me turning pages).

    2. Almost everyone chose paper for this, but quite honestly, I would choose audio. I can get through books much faster that way and I love some of the narrators out there!

    3. Definitely email (and I think this was unanimous across the board). I'm just not really a phone person to begin with, but also I really like to have all the details down on paper so I can go back to them.

  5. 1. I would read the suspense book first. I've always leaned that way- deep, mysterious, requires some thinking. I like trying to figure out what is going to happen.

    2. I definitely prefer the paper version. There is just something about the feel and look of a nice printing and binding. I love the feel of the book in my hands and the turn of the pages.

    3. This is a hard one- you can't hear tone of voice through email, but at the same time, reading something gives you time to process it before responding. I'm not a publish author so, other than written feedback from teachers/professors, I've not much experience with this.

  6. 1) Suspense. I am way more engaged with the characters and more likely to be transported outside of my own world.

    2) Paper. I love the smell, the weight, the sound of the pages flipping. Yep ... paper :D

    3) I think I would actually prefer the phone. I like to argue my points and hearing the opinion of others verbally gives me ideas and a clearer understanding of what they are intending. Though, since I am unpublished I can't say for sure.

    Great questions <3
